AmaGroove Residency is a globally recognized songwriting camp that brings together music creators from Africa and Denmark to explore uncharted sounds, foster cross-cultural collaboration, and drive social impact. Answering a growing demand from artists and the industry, it provides a dedicated space where producers, songwriters, and vocalists can expand beyond conventional networks—collaborating across borders to co-create, innovate, and inspire.
More than a residency, it is a dynamic platform for artistic storytelling, cultural dialogue, and creative exchange—uniting artists and amplifying diverse voices in the global music industry.
AmaGroove brings together exceptional music creators—producers, vocalists, topliners, and songwriters known for both their creative depth and collaborative spirit. We intentionally cultivate a diverse and genre-spanning lineup, reflecting the richness of music. Artists are selected for their talent, their openness to learn, share, and help shape a vibrant, cross-cultural creative community.

We seek bold, refined artistry that resonates beyond borders, ensuring each artist is supported to take creative risks, explore new ground, and thrive in a space built on mutual respect.
A Safe and Brave Space
There’s zero tolerance for discrimination—whether based on gender identity, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, ability, or socio-economic background. AmaGroove is a professional, high-trust environment where artists can create freely and work deeply. It’s a space that encourages and protects vulnerability, inspire bold expression, and nurtures the kind of brave creative culture where talent can truly evolve.

AmaGroove kicks off at CottonFest Joburg—a boundary-breaking cultural festival born from the visionary spirit of the late Riky Rick. Our partnership with CottonFest reflects our shared values of access, innovation, and the power of youth. Together, we connect the local with the global—honouring heritage while embracing what’s next.
Home to the AmaGroove Residency, this creative haven is set within the NIROX Foundation Park in the Cradle of Humankind. A peaceful sanctuary, it offers artists a retreat into nature’s wild heart. Here, temporary rustic studios replace high-tech, soundproof spaces, fostering an organic, immersive environment that fuels creativity and deepens artistic expression.
The residency culminates in a powerful final listening session, where artists present their work to an invited audience of major labels, publishers, and press—offering invaluable feedback, opportunities for future collaborations, and a moment to celebrate the artistry, connection, and growth that have unfolded across the week.
At AmaGroove, community connection is woven into everything we do. In partnership with Ubuntu Queens, we host a tailored workshop that brings together residency artists and young people from local communities. Through creative exchange, trust-building, and collaborative expression, the workshop creates a dynamic space where everyone is encouraged to grow and be heard.
“I left feeling more fearless and committed to my music than ever. Seeing other musicians tap into their creativity and evolution was an inspiring reminder that this industry is a community effort”
